APPS for BYOD (Bring Your Own Device)
I will list apps that I feel are appropriate for the classroom. I will post mainly free apps. However, there are some apps that are great that one must buy. This will always be optional for students to buy!!! Also, understand, that I own Apple Devices and I do not always know if there is an equivalent for Windows. However, students can check that out on their own.
Writing/Note Taking
Evernote
Dragon Dictation
Soundnote ($4.99) Allows students to record while taking notes. I have used this in seminars and it is excellent.
German online Dictionary
LEO (link everything online)
Productivity
DropBox Allows students to save and share files and access from anywhere.
CloudOn-Another cloud based app to save and share files.
VoiceThread-conversations, video, etc. We will use it for a variety of types of assessments.
Edmodo-We will be using Edmodo in all courses.
Audioboo-Sound files (I am not sure if I will use this one in class)
PocketDictate-Audio (For both iPhone and Windows Devices)
Studying
Flashcards Deluxe ($3.99) Recommended by students. Great way to study especially for the final exams. Students can make flashcards for each chapter. Students can also "buy" a native speaker voice. Male voice is cheaper to buy than the female German voice. Students can also import decks of cards.
Projects
Popplet Lite-Mind Mapping-Limited the paid version allows for a lot more options.
Idea Sketch-Concept Map, Flow Chart, etc.
Total Recall-Mind Mapping and the ability to share files via PDF files.
